MISSION:

The mission of the San Diego Brewer’s Guild is to promote awareness and increase the visibility of fresh, locally brewed beer through education and participation in community events.

OVERVIEW:

It’s hard to deny the momentum of the American craft beer movement when right here in San Diego we’re experiencing a brewing renaissance of our own. Undoubtedly, San Diego Beer Week in its mere 3 years has played a pivotal role in spreading the word about our city’s artisanal trade; each year the festivities have drawn increased crowds and participation from businesses that weren’t associated with craft beer previously.

The San Diego Brewer’s Guild was founded in 1997 to:

• promote San Diego breweries
• create an open line of communication between brewers
• and be an advocate for more modern beer laws

Indeed, craft beer is the fastest growing segment of alcoholic beverages in the United States, and right here in town, its influence is spawning interest in artisanal foods as well, richening our local culture all the while. Our local brewing scene is likely to continue playing a key role in the movement; the proof is increasingly woven into our city’s fabric, especially as Mayor Jerry Sanders declared June Craft Beer Month in San Diego.
